“Naked-eye” detection of chirality
By Laurent Vial, Assistant Editor of NJC
Chiral analysis continues to receive considerable attention since enantiomers often differ in their pharmacological activity and pharmacokinetic profile.
In this NJC letter, Haibing Li and co-workers from

Wuhan
(P.R. China) report a colorimetric sensor that displays a selective and strong response to L-histidine resulting from the agglomeration of silver nanoparticles. The authors believe that the self-assembly of nanoparticles into clusters is an effective approach to improve the sensitivity of chiral detection.
